PM's warning over war with Iraq, terrorism and economy

A GLOOMY picture of 2003 is painted by Tony Blair today.

He warns of danger and difficulty at home and abroad - with Saddam Hussein, al-Qaeda and the world economic slowdown the enemies-in-chief.

His only consolation is that Britain is "well placed" to meet the challenges.

The Premier insists his Government can make "the right decisions", including confronting the issue of Iraq and taking a leading role in the fight against terror.

Here is his New Year message in full:I CANNOT recall a time when Britain was confronted, simultaneously, by such a range of difficult and, in some cases, dangerous problems.
