NY Post -December 30, 2003 --
The small-plane pilot who sparked a terror alert when he flew through restricted airspace and buzzed the Statue of Liberty should lose his license, Mayor Bloomberg said yesterday...
...The pilot, Richard Michael Langone, shares the same name and birthday as a convicted murderer who once served 15 years for fatally shooting another then-teen in a dispute over a $10 bet on a sandlot football game.
The shooting occurred Nov. 15, 1974 - Lagone's 18th birthday - in Rosedale, Queens.
The killer was released from prison in 1991. During his prison stint, he gained small fame for challenging a state law banning inmates with life sentences from marrying - and won the case.
It was not clear if the ex-con and the pilot are the same person. Attempts to reach the pilot were unsuccessful yesterday.
