Anti-War Protesters Arrested in San Francisco Area

SUNNYVALE, Calif. (Reuters) -

"...Police arrested at least 25 people on Tuesday protesting the war in Iraq in front of Lockheed Martin Corp., one of the nation's top defense contractors.

One person who had linked himself to other demonstrators with plastic piping was injured as police drilling through the tubing reached his arm by mistake. He was treated at the scene.

Several hundred protesters held signs reading "Welcome to Silicon Death Valley" and "Shut down the War" in front of the firm's California facility south of San Francisco.

The demonstration was the latest in a series in the San Francisco area that have targeted firms seen to be benefiting from the U.S. invasion of Iraq.

Bechtel Group Inc., a top San Francisco-based international construction company that has attracted large numbers of protesters, last week won a U.S. Government contract worth up to $680 million to repair war-torn Iraq's electricity system, water supplies and other key infrastructure..."
