This is veterans day, the way to support our troops is to get them out of this unconstitutional illegal act of aggression in Iraq. True patriots demonstate allegiance to the Constitution of the United States not a person or political party.

10/18/03 To Senator Patrick Leahy

THAT'S NOT GOOD ENOUGH SENATOR, NOT GOOD ENOUGH FROM YOU, THE VERMONT CONGRESSIONAL DELEGATION, OR CONGRESS IN ITS ENTIRTY as an American and as a Vermonter I feel you and Congress are playing politics with us all.

CONGRESS in its entirety is proving to be a coconspirator that fails to take action on a faulted, illegal, unconstitutional act of aggression in Iraq that Congress empowered using a premise called Preemption.

The president announced this was a thirty year war, and now regardless of original words of justification to the people, Congress and the world, justifies aggression in Iraq by stating the world is better off without Saddam.

In other words anything the president says justifies moving government and the military to carry out his personal wishes.

We have violated the sovereignty of a nation while at home laws violating the sovereignty of individual Americans are in force dismantling the sovereignty of the citizens. How long will it be before we are murdered if we stand in the way of our government?

Sovereignty means if those people don’t want us in their country for trade, visits or war it is their right to tell us to stay home. Preemption in Iraq also violated another basic constitutional principle, innocent until proven guilty. Congress did not scrutinize intelligence data well enough to determine the invasion was built on lies before authorizing the use of force; lies that were common knowledge in the intelligence departments.

A bill has passed the House approving sanctions against Syria for supporting terrorism. The direction of Congress and this president is clear. Obviously the government will not stop until we wipe these cultures and societies off the face of the earth.

That is certainly ethnic cleansing when measured against the requirements placed on Iraq that must be implemented prior to our leaving. All must be recreated in the image and philosophies of the west to continue to exist.

No weapons of mass destruction have been found to date but also there was no evidence of a planned invasion of the United States. Weapons or no weapons the Constitution is clear from preamble to end. Congresses responsibility is to ensure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, declare war, repel invasions, no state shall engage in war unless actually invaded, protect the states against invasion. No where does our rule of law allow you to authorize a preemptive act of aggression on a sovereign nation that has shown no hostile intent towards the United States.

Primarily you have failed to protect the citizens who are our military that are being used for personal goals of those in government rather than the defense of the United States.

You have not run government according to the rule of law. The military action in Iraq amounts to murder of the people of Iraq, and the murder of our military. All continue to lose lives and be maimed. You and Congress are failing to follow the rule of law of our republic; you must resign along with the rest of Congress after impeaching and removing the president from office.

The removal of the chief justice of Alabama's supreme court is a bright light on the horizon for preserving the integrity and principles of this nation. This judgment reaffirmed we are a Republic with Constitutions as our rule of law and no person is above our law, not president, congress, governors or legislatures. We have heard that the war in Iraq is a parallel the Vietnam War but nowhere do we find any comparison to the Russian/Afghanistan war. The mighty super power failed is spite of overwhelming military power. In the face of an overwhelming military force a guerilla (terrorist) war is the only type of warfare that these people/nations/cultures can fight. Guerilla (terrorist) neutralizes might.

Divisions of Iraqi troops were never fought they just melted into the population and allowed the US to enter and take over Baghdad. Suicide bombings are one of the basic methods of their warfare. Tanks and cruise missiles are useless when you cannot tell the enemy from civilians. Russia did not win in Afghanistan; The US didn't win in Vietnam. In fact the mighty imperialist nation we won our freedom from was also forced out of the rest of the world by terrorist forces. There was serious distain between America's freedom fighters and the Tories loyal to Great Britain. Iraq is a war we cannot win. Anyone that tries to define them as terrorists never experienced the terror of any type of war. Definitions have no bearing on the results, people die.

The future is clear and predictable because the Iraqi's and Muslims of that part of the world have proven they also have resolve. Their resolve is defense of their homeland and they are willing to pay with their lives unlike the resolve of our president who is only willing to pay for his resolve with everyone else's life. We are invaders not defenders of our homeland. There is no difference between a terrorist car bomb and a cruise missile all methods of warfare are terrorism. In the Revolutionary war we were terrorists fighting the imperial super power! Now our government (Congress and the president) are sending more untrained Guards people into the war.

We are not defending the freedoms and liberty this nation; we are sacrificing citizens on the altar of tyranny that runs rampant in this government. Where are the generals that are responsible for the welfare of their troops and the proper use of the military? Neither the president, congress nor the generals are looking out for the welfare of Americans, our citizen military. All are supporting this illegal unconstitutional preemptive act of aggression without regard to the rights of the military as citizens.

Support the troops, send a message to congress that requires they resign after throwing this group of pirates out of the white house. Our government has been seized for the personal use of those in government; Congress included. Reinstate our constitution and the rule of law particularly for the use of the military as defenders of the homeland against invasion. Our government has been high jacked for illegal, unconstitutional purposes and we have a responsibility to throw the bums out. Make representative government representative again; make them all accountable to us.

Sincerely

William Brueckner sr.
