U.S. World Image Plummets Under The Neo-consposted by admin on Thursday June 05, @03:33AM![]() from the democraticunderground.com dept.
Bush
has busted the budget to the tune of 44 trillion with his "squat down"
economics, offshore tax cheat corporations can now use dividends to
shelter exorbitant executive income from the highest tax bracket, the
dollar is at a historic low, thousands of jobs are lost every week,
angry Iraqis are killing about 10 American soldiers every week to thank
us for "liberating" them, Carlyle (Daddy Bush & James Baker),
Halliburton (Cheney) and Bechtel (W's biggest contributor) have been
given blank checks at taxpayer expense to rebuild Iraq while our own
infrastructure crumbles, Bush lied through his teeth about the reasons
for war, Saddam was never a threat to the United States or even our
allies, and inspections weren't only working -- they had already done
the job. Meanwhile, basic necessities of domestic security -- like protecting our ports, borders, water supplies and nuclear power plants -- have gone unfunded in favor of giving the executive branch of the federal government completely unchecked fascist powers. And the troops whose unnecessary deaths we need to support have been rewarded with a huge cut in veteran benefits. Certainly, executive compensation income tax shelters for off-shore corporate tax cheats are a far more important fiscal priority! Finally, respect and admiration for the United States worldwide is at an all-time low:
More generally, criticisms of U.S. foreign policy are almost universal. Overwhelming majorities disapprove of President Bush's foreign policy and the small boost he received in the wake of Sept. 11 has disappeared. As a consequence, publics in seven of the eight nations surveyed believe that American policies have a negative effect on their country. Only the British are divided on the impact of American foreign policy on their country. Everybody thinks they're next:
And Bin Laden is more than twice as popular as he was last year among the nations most likely to export terrorism:
Full reports: http://people-press.org/ But I feel much safer now that Saddam and his WMD's (if he ever had any) are on the loose with nothing to lose. I mean, we did find two empty balloon trucks. Who knows what Saddam could have done with them had, say, someone invaded his country? Don't you feel much safer now, too?
