Russian oil companies in mega-merger"...Two of Russia's top oil producing companies Yukos and Sibneft have announced a mega-merger. The deal would create the fourth largest oil company in the world according to a joint statement by the two companies. The new company is to be called somewhat prosaically the YukosSibneft Oil Company. Russia is the second-largest oil producer after Saudi Arabia and is looking to boost its exports. It is currently completing plans to build pipelines from Siberia to China..." YukosSibneft will also own 2,500 petrol stations across Russia and have a combined workforce of 150,000 people. The group will be run by Yukos chief executive Mikhail Khodorkovsky, who is also Russia's richest man. Sibneft president Eugene Shvidler will become chairman...."
