MUNICH, Germany -- Andreas von Bulow's book has climbed the German bestseller list, his lectures are jammed and, after two years of mounting frustration, his ideas are gaining traction. His thesis:

The U.S. government staged the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on New York and Washington to justify wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. It is a tentative theory, he admits, based mostly on his doubt that Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda terrorist group launched the attacks. "That's something that is simply 99% false," he said at a reading of his book on the second anniversary of the attacks.

A crackpot? A conspiracy theorist who believes that Elvis lives and the CIA murdered Kennedy? Not exactly.
Mr. von Bulow, 66 years old, is a former German cabinet minister, a trim, silver-haired man whose book comes from one of the country's most prestigious publishing houses and who lectures at well-known public institutions.

The widow of a photo editor killed in the nation's first anthrax attack in 2001 sued the federal government yesterday, alleging that lax security at an Army lab caused his death.

Maureen Stevens is seeking more than $50 million in what is believed to be the first lawsuit to attempt to hold the government accountable for producing and mishandling the deadly strain.

Robert Stevens, an editor for The Sun tabloid, is believed to have contracted the disease from a tainted letter sent to the Boca Raton, Fla., headquarters of American Media Inc.

The Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases at Fort Detrick, Md., is the primary custodian of the strain of anthrax found in envelopes sent to the victims.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) -- The government has asked a judge to dismiss all charges against terrorism suspect Zacarias Moussaoui, according to a motion released Thursday. Prosecutors said they made the extraordinary request to hasten an appeal challenging the defendant's right to question al-Qaida prisoners.

Prosecutors want an appellate court to overrule two district court orders that gave Moussaoui the right to question three captives who he says could testify he was not a conspirator in the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

Ellen Mariani's husband was aboard Flight 175. She says government officials were negligent.

A New Hampshire woman whose husband died in one of the planes that hit the World Trade Center sued President Bush and other government officials yesterday, contending their negligence of airport security resulted in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.The wrongful death lawsuit by Ellen Mariani, whose husband, Louis Neil Mariani, was a passenger in the plane that hit the south tower, was described by her lawyer as part of her campaign to "get to the truth of what happened on Sept. 11."

"We just don't believe the federal government has been honest with us," said Philip J. Berg, a Lafayette Hill lawyer, Democratic activist and former gubernatorial candidate.In December 2001, Mariani filed one of the first Sept. 11-related lawsuits, an action in federal court in Manhattan against United Airlines maintaining that United's poor security led to the hijacking of Flight 175 shortly after it took off from Boston's Logan International Airport.Since then, Mariani has become known as an outspoken critic of efforts to limit discovery of the causes of the Sept. 11 hijackings, often to the consternation of her lawyers, government officials and some survivors.

EAS System was not activated on Sep11th

No alert issued on 9/11 (by FCC) as Bush didn't order one

As GFP has learned, exclusively reported now at Legitgov.org, the Emergency Alert System (EAS) was not on High Alert on September 11th, 2001.

GFP received an info about the same story, but had to put it on hold.

Activist Mary Titus, just gotten a response to her querry from the FCC as to whether the Emergency Alert System was activated on September 11.
The answer by FCC-Associate Chief Suzanne M. Tetreault had been:
"The EAS system was not activated on 9/11/01".

One of Titus' correspondents forwarded us the email between Titus and Tetreault and we can guarantee the credibility of this story.
