Republicans: George Soros - The US is now in the hands of a group of extremistsposted by admin on Sunday January 25, @08:28PMfrom the guardian.co.uk dept.
Fundamentalism has spawned an ideology of American supremacy
The
invasion of Iraq was the first practical application of the pernicious
Bush doctrine of pre-emptive military action, and it elicited an
allergic reaction worldwide - not because anyone had a good word to say
about Saddam Hussein, but because we insisted on invading Iraq
unilaterally without any clear evidence that he had anything to do with
September 11 or that he possessed weapons of mass destruction. The gap in perceptions between America and the rest of the world has never been wider. Abroad, America is seen as abusing the dominant position it occupies; opinion at home has been led to believe that Saddam posed a clear and present danger to national security. Only in the aftermath of the Iraqi invasion are people becoming aware they have been misled. Source...http://www.guardian.co.uk/usa/story/0,12271,1131213,00.html

Financial services giant Merrill Lynch topped the list of contributors to President Bush’s re-election campaign in the second quarter of this year, with $264,750 in donations from employees and their immediate family members, according to a preliminary study of mid-year campaign finance filings by the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics.

Pat Robertson attacks Bush Administration for failing to support Liberian DictatorGold-Digging TV Preacher Fails To Mention Business Interests In War-Torn Nation au.org -7/11/03
TV preacher Pat Robertson has repeatedly criticized the Bush administration over its handling of the crisis in Liberia – without once mentioning his own personal business interests in the country. In recent days, Robertson has used his nationally broadcast television show to charge that the U.S. government has sought to destabilize Liberia and oust President Charles Taylor. Although Taylor is a brutal dictator under indictment for war crimes by the United Nations, he is a business partner of Robertson.

The Republican Party's Vision For AmericaReport: Pentagon adviser in Iraq flap
L.A. Times: Perle ('The Prince Of Darkness') gave advice on making profit from conflicts
ASSOCIATED PRESS
LOS ANGELES, May 7 — Pentagon adviser Richard Perle briefed an investment seminar on ways to profit from conflicts in Iraq and North Korea just weeks after he received a top-secret government briefing on the crises in the two countries, the Los Angeles Times reported on Wednesday. PERLE, who until March was chairman of the Defense Policy Board, a group of outside advisers to the Pentagon, also serves on the board of several defense contractors. The revelation raises concerns about conflicts of interest. The Times reported that Perle attended a Defense Intelligence Agency briefing in February and three weeks later participated in a Goldman Sachs conference call in which he advised investors in a talk titled “Implications of an Imminent War: Iraq Now. North Korea Next?” Perle did not return phone calls or e-mails from the newspaper seeking comment. UPDATED: Wed. May 7, 2003 - 11:14am

Would Someone PLEASE Tell Them To Turn Off FOXAnd they wonder why blacks don't for for them...Republicans: "All African Americans under drug treatment".Cubin's remarks seem to have provoked barely a word of protest from her Republican colleagues. For fear that some may think they are taken out of context, we reprint the offending part here in its entirety: "My sons are 25 and 30. They are blond-haired and blue-eyed. One amendment today said we could not sell guns to anybody under drug treatment. So does that mean if you go into a black community, you cannot sell a gun to any black person, or does that mean because my -- " At this point, Rep. Melvin Watt (D-N.C.) demanded that her words be stricken from the record as inappropriate... ... Mrs. Cubin declined the opportunity to back down. "Mr. Chairman," she said, "I do not withdraw my words." ...Yet more astonishing than Mrs. Cubin's obtuseness was that when the full House considered whether to have Mrs. Cubin's words "taken down" as offensive -- a move that would have stricken them from the record and kept her from speaking for the rest of the day -- it voted in her favor, 227 to 195. Not a single Republican lawmaker voted against the remarks... http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A5544-2003Apr10.html
