Bush Vows "American Justice" for Bombers in Saudi Arabiaposted by NYC on Wednesday May 14, @04:14PMfrom the International dept. By Mike Allen Washington Post Staff Writer Wednesday, May 14, 2003; Page A05 PIERCE CITY, Mo., May 13 -- President Bush said today that he strongly suspected the bombings in Saudi Arabia were the work of al Qaeda and promised "American justice" for the perpetrators. Bush, speaking in driving rain as he toured a town wiped out by a tornado, said the bombing "was very well planned" and "there's a lot of suspicion it is al Qaeda," Osama bin Laden's terrorist network. "Until al Qaeda is completely brought to justice, they want to hurt Americans and our friends and allies," he said as thunder cracked. "They'll hit and run, and they'll try to hide. We're going to get them." Continued. In private, Bush was businesslike during his initial briefings on the attack. "Keep me posted," an aide quoted him as saying. The synchronized strikes, at three housing compounds for Westerners in Riyadh, killed seven Americans just before Secretary of State Colin L. Powell arrived. The attacks were a setback to administration officials at a time when Bush has been proclaiming optimism about achieving peace in the Middle East.
