Iraq letterposted by admin on Wednesday February 04, @11:44AM![]() from the Letters-To-The-Editor dept.
David A. Naar writes "2/2/03 Dear Editor I recently received this letter from my daughter regarding her recent trip to Iraq and felt that you may want to publish it. The following is her story. Dear Dad, It's been a week now since I completed a 2 week tour of post war Iraq, or at least that's how George W refers to this time. Actually, the war continues in Iraq only now there are even more players. It is no longer the war between the lone ranger USA and dictator Saddam, although most people knew it was never really that simple. This unilateral, preemptive war with no clear plan on what to do after the Iraqi government fell, has opened up a Pandora's box that nobody knows how to contain. It is a quagmire probably of more significance than Vietnam where the enemy is defined as terrorism which is about as tangible as a ray of light. The victims of course are the Iraqi people and our foot soldiers, but that's nothing new either. Our Christian Peacemaker Team (CPT) delegation arrived in Baghdad on January 5. We joined a CPT team of 7 who were deeply involved in documenting cases of abuse and torture by coalition forces against Iraqi detainees. The team had compiled data from 72 cases which included prying off toenails during interrogation to psychological torture and more. The data was passed on to CPA headquarters, various senators and representatives and of course, the media. BBC picked up on it almost immediately and ran the story repeatedly on headline news. The next day, there were reports that 500 of the estimated 18,000 detainees would be released and that military investigations were pending. CPT didn't claim total responsibility for the response as Occupation Watch, AFSC, Amnesty International and independent journalists had been contributing evidence as well.

Important evidence concerning CIA
I think that I discovered an important evidence which would make Bush Adminstration and George J. Tenet running for their lives. I have found something very interesting on Internet. I have gotten two different website addresses, the one displays the picture of the toppled Riza Shah statue in Iran in August 1953 while the another one shows the picture of the toppled Saddam Hussein statue in Iraq on April 9, 2003. They look amazingly similar - despite time gap! Wow! Please remember that a picture tells everything. Here are the two website addresses possessing the pictures which are being poised for comparing and matching:***

For months, we've been hearing from Bush that the economy is turning around, that Bush's tax cuts for the wealthy are creating jobs, that the recession was all the fault of Clinton and then Sept. 11, 2001. It's campaign 2004 time, time for Bush to act like a moderate. It's time for Bush to feed us some more horse manure. It's time for me to upchuck. On Dec. 5, Bush's Labor Department reported that U.S. non-farm payroll jobs increased by 57,000 in November, falling short of expectations after an 8.2 percent annual growth rate in the third quarter of this year. The job gains under Bush are mostly in lower-paying service jobs - manufacturing jobs fell for the 40th straight month in November.

Please write to GFP and we will try to respond here By Bill Brueckner, November 11 This is veterans day, the way to support our troops is to get them out of this unconstitutional illegal act of aggression in Iraq. True patriots demonstate allegiance to the Constitution of the United States not a person or political party.
10/18/03 To Senator Patrick Leahy THAT'S NOT GOOD ENOUGH SENATOR, NOT GOOD ENOUGH FROM YOU, THE VERMONT CONGRESSIONAL DELEGATION, OR CONGRESS IN ITS ENTIRTY as an American and as a Vermonter I feel you and Congress are playing politics with us all. CONGRESS in its entirety is proving to be a coconspirator that fails to take action on a faulted, illegal, unconstitutional act of aggression in Iraq that Congress empowered using a premise called Preemption.

I was so glad to hear that you wouldn't allow anybody to consider you a
"hero" when the news broke about your being a pill popping junkie all these
years, even as you were sermonizing and condemning others from your 50,000
watt pulpit for the very things you were surreptitiously doing for so long
yourself.
You're so courageous to come out and finally make a "clean breast of things"
I'm sure your legions of devoted fans and the Florida State Prosecutors in
West Palm will appreciate that. But I guess you've already considered that
too since you regularly function so well with " half your brain tied behind
your back" and not to mention all that "talent on loan from God".
Well, anyway, now that you've finally been exposed as the liar, ultra
hypocrite and, oh yeah.. criminal that you were all along, I guess a little
healing and reconciliation is actually in order to clear the air.

No WMD's have been found. No links to Al Qaeda or the events of 9/11 have been found. Saddam has not been found.
The Administration has been forced to admit that evidence used to justify the invasion of Iraq was forged and plagiarized.

"Big bro 43, 1st non-elected resident of the white house, are you a serial liar, or are you the “leader of the free world who doesn’t do nuances”, or a puppet dangling at the whims of your PNAC masters?
In the presidential debates, whoever the Democrat is--let’s say Kerry; should use some of these as talking points regarding Bush’s warmongering. As he makes each question, he should have a small placard behind him summarizing the point. He has to do the Columbo thing of asking open-ended questions, luring him in, and then snaring him into the trap. As Bush speaks he must use the same poster saying, “Typical, insider, political double-speak” as none of Bush’s answers matter. (

Anonymous writes "After reading an interesting article named, "GFP: War in Africa was planned for years", it greatly raised our suspicion of our government's activity. I realize that a lot of us never suspect that oil is becoming that important to the political elites' interests and wealths. I am now becoming more certain that there is something more than "war against terrorism is always about oil".
The article leads me to believe that oil may be a major factor for giving a birth to NAFTA, starting totally unexpected mass immigration into America in 1990s, creating major Middle East wars, giving U.S. foreign policy a major hijacker, breaking so many domestic and international laws, creating first-time offensive attack, negotiating with other oil-rich countries, advertisment/sales of SUVs and raising speed limit throughout U.S. (I have not studied stocks of oil/gas companies yet. I just want to give you my opinion)
For example, U.S. is letting too many legal and illegal immigrants in because so they could pay gas for their trips. That would generate a profit for oil companies. Maybe invisible profits for some certain groups?
Federal speed limit was removed in 1990s. Speed limit now belongs to states' responsiblities. A lot of speed limits around U.S.(except New York)were already raised. That also helped making more money for the oil companies.
U.S. government was permitting a large amount of SUVs, gas guzzlers, to be sold so gas/oil profit can be raised because of cheaper fuel.
Remedy to oil-related chaos/abusal: Return to 1970s system. Be energy conservative, using alternative fossil fuel like solar power, nuclear power, wind power, hydrogen fuel, etc., lower speed limit back to 55 MPH nationally, raise gas prices to conserve consumption, take a large portion from Defense budget to buy solar panels for eligible homeowners - starting with poverty level families, and establish a goal to be more environment friendly.
I think that it may be a way to eliminate wars, special benefits for elites, Caryle Group, etc., illegal authorities, growth of defense research funds, excessive defense spending, mass deception, and others."

I cannot remain silent anymore, even if it costs me personally. All I hope is that my words don't fall on deaf ears, and that my concerns are not just brushed off. I have been personally affected by what is happening, and I want others to know what I feel. I am afraid. Everyday I step out into a world unlike anything I ever thought truly possible - a world of my worst fears. If only I could convince myself that I was afraid of shadows, I could then ignore that quiet voice inside that sees the things I wish were not there. America is no longer the land of the free.

David R. Thompson writes "Dear Members of Congress and United States Senate: I hope that you are not naïve enough or callus enough to believe that I just recently fell off the turnip truck, or that the rest of your collective constituents are too dull or disinterested to know that somebody is lying about who knew the what’s and when’s about weapons of mass destruction allegedly possessed by that ‘Booger of Baghdad’, Saddam Hussein! There is something unusual about this whole affair (specifically, concerning the veracity of the White House with regard to just what was the evidence suggesting that Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction) and the manner in which this information was communicated to the American public and the rest of the world. People that do not usually share the same political opinions are discussing it and demanding answers.
