But O'Neill died in another bin Laden attack shortly after leaving the FBI, just a few weeks into a new job as security chief at the World Trade Center.

Weiss, as criminal justice reporter for the New York Post, knew O'Neill as a valued source, but from the story he presents, it's unclear how well anybody-even those closest to him-really knew O'Neill, a man described by friends as "on the run from himself" his entire adult life.

I have written a new book, and this Tuesday it’s being released. It’s called, “DUDE, WHERE’S MY COUNTRY?” Because its content is likely to upset more than a few people, the publisher has “embargoed” the book until midnight Monday (which means no store or media outlet or anyone has access to a copy of the book until then).

They have taken these measures because I have written a book that seeks not to defeat the Bush people next year, but to have them removed from Washington right now. I know, I’m not asking for much.

But I have spent the better part of the past year researching and writing this new book, and when you read it you’ll see why the current criminal investigation of the White House for outing a CIA agent in revenge is, in my opinion, just the tip of the iceberg.

“THERE’S THREE THINGS TO REMEMBER: claim everything, explain nothing, deny everything,” recalled Prescott Bush as to how politics was explained to him by Clare Booth Luce, congresswoman and wife of fellow Bonesman and magazine magnate, Henry Luce. The remarks were recorded in a 1966 interview with Prescott for an oral history project about the Eisenhower Administration by Columbia University.

The Bush political family seems to have taken those words to heart, one example being the story of Prescott’s involvement with the Union Banking Corporation and the financing of Hitler and fascism. Why there has been such a deliberate and hard cover-up of this affair is in no doubt due to its sensitive nature.

His research is based on "two government sources" about claims by Abu Zubaydah, who is still at an undisclosed location

WASHINGTON - A top Al Qaeda leader in U.S. custody has detailed ties among Osama Bin Laden, Pakistani officials and members of the Saudi royal family, charging that some of them knew about the 9/11 plot in advance, according to a new book.

At one point, the captured operative, Abu Zubaydah, told his interrogators to call a Saudi prince who could get him off the hook, the book says. The explosive revelations in Gerald Posner's new book, "Why America Slept," outline how U.S. agents missed numerous chances to unravel Al Qaeda's deadly plans to attack the U.S. Posner contends that after Zubaydah was nabbed in Pakistan in March 2002, the CIA gave him painkillers and sodium pentothal, a truth serum, to coax the former Al Qaeda operations chief to spill terror leader Bin Laden's plans. They tricked him into thinking he was in a Saudi jail and sent in U.S. agents posing as Saudis to question him, the book says. A relieved Zubaydah, who was actually in Afghanistan, ticked off telephone numbers for a senior member of the Saudi royal family who would "tell you what to do," Posner writes, according to Time magazine.
